University of Buckingham

The University of Buckingham is the oldest independent university in the UK. It is closely linked to Margaret Thatcher, who as Education Secretary oversaw the creation of the university college in 1973, and as Prime Minister was instrumental in helping it gain its Royal Charter which elevated it to a university in 1983. The University of Buckingham has been ranked 1st out of 129 universities for student satisfaction for the last three years. As of 2020, the University of Buckingham had a student population of 3 300 originating from more than 70 countries. In 2020, the University of Buckingham has signed an Agreement of Academic Affiliation with British University in Georgia.
