BU Hosts a Summit: “Leadership in the Age of AI” for Partner School Students

On Saturday, 29 November, the British University in Georgia hosted a large-scale Leadership Summit titled “Leadership in the Age of AI.” The event brought together students from the University’s partner schools for an immersive day of learning, discussion, and practical skill-building focused on how artificial intelligence is transforming leadership, careers, and the future of work.

The Summit forms part of the British University’s strategic commitment to strengthen leadership education and AI literacy among young people, equipping the next generation with the skills required to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

AI Literacy Workshop: Understanding the Technology Shaping the Future

The day began with an interactive AI Literacy Workshop, introducing students to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, how modern AI systems work, and the opportunities and challenges that come with them. Participants explored real-world use cases, experimented with AI tools, and discussed issues around ethics, digital citizenship, and responsible AI use.

The workshop emphasised the importance of understanding AI not only as a technological innovation but also as a critical leadership competency for future decision-makers.

Careers in the Age of AI

A central part of the Summit focused on how AI is reshaping the global job market. Speakers highlighted emerging career pathways, new skills required by employers, and the growing importance of creativity, communication, and strategic thinking—skills that cannot be automated. Students received practical guidance on preparing for university, choosing future professions, and leveraging AI tools to support academic and professional development.

How AI Transformation Is Redefining Leadership

The final session explored the profound impact of AI transformation on leadership roles in business, government, and civil society. Through case studies and group discussions, students examined:

  • How leaders today make decisions with the support of AI

  • Why emotional intelligence, ethical reasoning, and adaptability are becoming essential leadership qualities

  • How AI can enhance—not replace—human judgement

  • What it means to lead responsibly in an AI-driven world

The session highlighted that future leaders must be technologically fluent, ethically grounded, and capable of managing complexity in environments shaped by rapid technological change.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Leaders

Throughout the day, students demonstrated exceptional engagement, curiosity, and readiness to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the AI era. The Summit served as a platform for young leaders to collaborate, share ideas, and build confidence in navigating an AI-powered future.

The British University in Georgia plans to expand the Leadership Summit into an annual event and deepen its collaboration with partner schools, ensuring that students across the country gain access to high-quality leadership and AI education.
