Partnership Signed with Axel – The First Georgian Angel Investor Network

Partnership Signed with Axel – The First Georgian Angel Investor Network

The British University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Axel – the First Georgian Angel Investor Network within the framework of the MA Innovation and Entrepreneurship programme.

The agreement establishes a direct link between academic education and the startup investment ecosystem, providing students with practical exposure to venture creation, fundraising, and investor engagement.

Integrating Industry Expertise into the Programme

Through this partnership, Axel will actively contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the MA Innovation and Entrepreneurship curriculum. Drawing on real startup investment experience, the network will provide industry-based insights, helping ensure that the programme remains aligned with the needs of entrepreneurs, investors, and innovation-driven businesses.

The collaboration includes:

  • Participation in curriculum development and programme updates

  • Sharing practical knowledge from startup financing and venture investment

  • Guest lectures, workshops, and practical training sessions

  • Exposure to real entrepreneurial case studies and investment evaluation processes

The objective is to equip students not only with theoretical understanding but also with the practical competencies required to build, evaluate, and scale startups.

Training for Fundraising and Investor Engagement

A central component of the partnership is preparing students for real investment environments. Students enrolled in the programme will receive training on:

  • Startup pitching and investor presentations

  • Preparing investment materials and business cases

  • Communicating value propositions to investors

  • Understanding how angel investment decisions are made

Students will have the opportunity to present their startup ideas in pitching-style sessions connected to Axel and receive professional feedback from angel investors.

Mentorship and Networking Opportunities

The partnership also creates mentorship and networking opportunities. Students will be able to connect directly with members of the angel investor network, gaining guidance from experienced entrepreneurs and investors.

This exposure will help students better understand:

  • how startups are evaluated,

  • what investors look for in founders,

  • and how entrepreneurial ideas move from concept to funded venture.

Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

By integrating an angel investor network into an academic programme, the British University aims to bridge higher education and the startup ecosystem in Georgia. The cooperation will support entrepreneurial education, encourage startup formation, and help students transform innovative ideas into viable businesses.

The partnership reflects the University’s broader strategy of practice-oriented education β€” ensuring that students graduate not only with academic knowledge, but with real-world experience, professional networks, and the skills necessary to launch and lead innovative ventures.
