Call for Papers on Education, Poverty Reduction, and Artificial Intelligence
Tbilisi, Georgia — British University, Department of Research Development
The British University is pleased to announce a Call for Papers for an upcoming issue of its academic journal, Poverty Studies Review, dedicated to the theme:
Education, Poverty Reduction, and the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Social Transformation
This issue aims to bring together high-quality scholarly research exploring how education and emerging technologies—particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI)—can contribute to inclusive development, social mobility, and sustainable poverty reduction.
About the Issue
Education has long been recognised as a cornerstone of poverty alleviation and sustainable development. Recent advances in artificial intelligence, data analytics, and digital learning technologies present new opportunities to enhance the quality, accessibility, and personalisation of education—especially in low-income and resource-constrained contexts.
At the same time, the rapid diffusion of AI and data-driven systems raises critical concerns related to equity, ethics, governance, digital exclusion, and the potential reproduction of existing social and economic inequalities.
This issue seeks to critically examine both the potential and the limitations of AI-enabled and data-driven educational innovations. Contributors are encouraged to move beyond purely techno-optimistic perspectives and to engage with the broader social, economic, political, and institutional dimensions of poverty and inequality.
Scope and Topics of Interest
The journal welcomes original research articles, empirical and comparative studies, case studies, theoretical contributions, policy analyses, and interdisciplinary research. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
