We Explored Tana Protected Territory as Part of Community Partnership
As part of its growing collaboration with the Development Agency of Gori Municipality, the British University visited the Tana Protected Territory on Saturday last week—a unique and ecologically rich area located near Gori. This initiative is a key component of the University’s broader effort to support sustainable development and community resilience in the region.
The visit, which took place on Saturday, 28 June, brought together academic staff and students to experience the natural beauty of the Tana Protected Area firsthand. Highlights of the visit included scenic walks around the serene Lebitana Lake, exploration of local biodiversity, and guided insights into the area’s potential for eco-tourism.
This field trip was more than just a celebration of nature. It marked a milestone in the University’s partnership with the Development Agency, which aims to strengthen the local economy by introducing micro-franchising models, launching a new website for the agency, and developing tourist-friendly infrastructure and attractions throughout the Atrevi Valley.
Following the exploration, the group gathered at a local restaurant to celebrate the end of the semester and enjoy a moment of reflection before the start of the exam period. The day served as both a rewarding experience for the university community and a demonstration of British University’s commitment to engaged scholarship and regional impact.
The University extends its gratitude to the Development Agency for their warm hospitality and looks forward to deepening this partnership through further collaborative initiatives in education, innovation, and community development.
